NBA Playoffs -- Cousins tears quad, out indefinitely
By Ponciano Melo Jr. PhilBoxing.com Wed, 17 Apr 2019

OAKLAND. When DeMarcus Cousins crumpled to the floor with 8:30 to play in the first quarter of the Golden State Warriors' Game 2 battle against the L.A on Tuesday at the Oracle Arena. the mishap seemed like a harmless basketball play.
Unfortunately for the two-time defending champions, it wasn't.
"It's a significant injury," Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters after the game. And while he didn't set a timetable, he said "it will be a while."
On Tuesday morning, Golden State confirmed that the 28-year old center tore his left quadriceps and will be out "indefinitely." In the official release, the Warriors said they would provide updates on Cousins' rehabilitation "when appropriate."
The injury served as a double whammy for the Warriors, who lost Game 2 of their first-round series via historic fashion as the Clippers stormed back from a 31-point third quarter deficit. The improbable reversal was the largest comeback in the history of the NBA playoffs since the 1989 Los Angeles Lakers rallied from a 29-point deficit against the now-defunct Seattle Supersonics.
A product of the University of Kentucky, a blue blood college program under head coach John Calapari, Cousins was the fifth overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft. After stints with the Sacramento Kings and the New Orleans Pelicans where he tore his Achilles heel, Cousins signed a one-year $5.3 million contract with the Warriors this past off-season.
Cousins didn't play for the Warriors until December while he rehabbed for the Achilles injury, but when he did he proved to be a vital part of the rotation. In 30 games with Golden State this season, Cousins, a four-time All-Star who has collected over $84 million in NBA salaries, has averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per.
