BUBOY FERNANDEZ SAYS PACQUIAO IS PREPARED TO WIN BY KO

PhilBoxing.com

Team Pacquiao chief trainer Buboy Fernandez says WBA welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao is being groomed for a knockout victory against Adrien Broner. "Of course, we'll be preparing Manny to win by KO, "Buboy told The Manila Times. "Now we have restored Manny's strength, speed and sharpness. I do want want him to do that. When the opportunity comes, he should take advantage of it. When opportunity comes any time in the fight, it should be taken. We have prepared Manny [for that]. When you see the opportunity to end the opponent, end him. Perhaps you lose the opportunity [to take the opponent out and then that opportunity] never comes back."

"Manny knows that [he can get the knockout]. He can feel it within him," Buboy said of his boyhood friend. "I am very pleased with the training camp Manny has had. His footwork, distance and angles are all coming together nicely. When he hits the mitts it sounds like an explosion. I have never felt such raw power."

Buboy added that when they end their camp in LA and proceed to Las Vegas "Manny will be in razor-sharp shape, I tell you. Both physically and mentally. He knows that he will do with whatever situation comes."

Three-division world champion Leo "El Terremoto" Santa Cruz will defend his WBA featherweight title against Houston's Miguel Flores in a main event that headlines Premier Boxing Champions on February 16 at Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles. Fighting from Los Angeles, Santa Cruz (35-1-1, 19 KOs) will again climb the ring after a successful rematch with Abner Mares winning by unanimous decision.

The 30-year-old Mexican will defend his title for the third time after he wrested the featherweight belt from Carl Frampton in January 2017, a sweet revenge from the loss he suffered to Frampton a year earlier in June 2016, both by majority decision.

Sanman boxers Romero ?Ruthless? Duno and Reymart ?Assassin? Gaballo are training very seriously for their upcoming fights in the United States in February. Both fighters did not enjoy the long Christmas season and cut short the holidays with their families to focus on training at their camp.

?I went home on Christmas day and went back to the gym the following day. I love my family but I have to focus on my training. My family understands. I?m doing this for them. I am 100% focused on this fight. I can?t afford to lose?, Gaballo said.

For his part, Duno went home to Tagum City on Christmas eve and immediately returned to the gym the day after Christmas. Both fighters spent the New Year training in their camps far from their families.

?I just made sure I spent Christmas with my parents and siblings. Then I?m off to the gym again. I want to be impressive in my next fight. I have caught the attention of Golden Boy, they have been giving me breaks. Don?t wanna lose that privilege and I want to be a world champion the soonest time. Training is everything right now?, Duno told Boxing Scene.
