PBA sets first media day By Eddie Alinea PhilBoxing.com Fri, 04 Jan 2019 A special media day will be hosted by the PBA on January 10, three days before the league?s Season 44 opens, at the Tent Solaire Resort and Casino. The PBA opens its door to celebrate its 44th anniversary with the men and women covering its games and other activities and fans who watched them as well on January 13. A first in the play-for-pay?s 44 years history, the day will not be confined, though, to making PBA officials, coaches and players available to members of the press, but hobnob as well with the fans. ?It?s the Media Day but it is not limited to our dear friends from the sports media,? PBA commissioner Willie Marcial clarified. All 12 teams will put up kiosks where their coaches, key players and incoming rookies will grant interviews and meet-and-greet sessions with the fans from 1-5 p.m. Earlier on Jan. 8 at Conrad Hotel in Pasay City, the 12 teams present their official lineups during the official launch of the new season that unwraps at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan. PBA board chairman Ricky Vargas and the rest of the members of the league board are expected to be present in the event. ?Wheeling and dealing have been pretty much done. Teams have made adjustments that they think are necessary to improve the makeup of their lineups,? Marcial said. The day will allow media to have have a better assessment of the teams during the media day,? Marcial explained. ?PBA personalities will be made available for photo shoots, on-cam TV interviews, live or taped radio interviews or interviews on whatever media platform, the league commissioner added. ?We will give these opportunities to our media friends to convey the messages, greetings to their fans,? Marcial said. ?It?s the first time that the PBA conducts this event, and we hope this could be of help to our media friends and partners on their stories and shows,? the league chieftain also said.
