Pacquiao cancels training schedule for Senate duty By Eddie Alinea PhilBoxing.com Wed, 28 Nov 2018 Look what boxing icon Manny Pacquiao has to live up with in his dual role as a lawmaker and a prizefighter. Two days following the opening of his training camp in preparation for his World Boxing Association welterweight title fight with American title pretender Adrien Broner, the Filipino belt-owner had to cancel his Wednesday training schedule at the Elorde Gym in Pasay City to preside over a bicameral hearing on the proposed bill for the establishment of national training center. The defending 147-pound titleholder manage to squeeze though his routine early morning roadwork at the vicinity of his Forbes Park residence in Makati. After a quick breakfast and a brief rest, he drove to his senate office to prepare himself for the hearing scheduled at noon of the same day and the immediately session three hours later. ?Actually, he told us, Buboy (Fernandez) and members of the training staff he?ll still push through with the gym activities if the session would finish early evening. Kaya pa daw nya,? Joe Ramos, COO of the Manny Pacquiao Boxing Promotions told The Manila Times in a telephone conversation. ?But we told him the training camp has just been started, anyway, so, wala namang masyadong mawawala if he misses training for only a day,? Ramos said. ?Besides, he still has to completely recover from the tiring and hectic one week trip to the U.S. for the promotional press tour.? ?His duties and responsibilities niya as a senator should come first really. He owes it to his constituents. Boss Manny knows that kaya dapat niyang unahin yun,? he said. ?He?s used to it na. Matagal na niyang ginagawa yun since his days at the Lower House.? ?Kaya lang ngayon, pagod pa siya, but he?ll settle down soon at magagampanan niyang pareho trabaho niya as a lawmaker and a fighter,? Ramos assured. ?You know what, last Monday, after training, nag privilege speech pa siya on tobacco bill and on Tuesday, Manny defended naman the ROTC revival bill,? Ramos disclosed. ?You?ll really be amazed kung saan kinukuha ni Manny ang energy niya.? Ramos, likewise, expressed amazement on his boss? work ethics even if he had just arrived from the U.S. a day before, "he really put everything, from the one-hour roadwork to two hours in the gym..? ?Very excited talaga siya maka-akyat muli sa ring after almost four months of ring inactivity since winning back the 147-pound crown from Lucas Matthysse,? Ramos said. ?Well, it?s not surprising naman. Manny?s life is in boxing. Boxing?s in his blood. Manny?s life is about fighting,? Ramos said. He?s been fighting all his life, not only to survive but to make people happy and boxing happens to be the only way he knows to make people happy.?
