NBA -- Bulls make narrow escape, tips Cavs, 99-98

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls dodged a bullet on Saturday night, squeaking past the Cleveland Cavaliers, 99-98, before a sold-out crowd of 21,506 at the United Center.
The Bulls surrendered an early 16-point advantage and turned the ball over in the final 13 seconds of play which gave the Cavaliers, then trailing by one, a last gasp at an upset.
But Cleveland guard Collin Sexton missed two shots as time expired.
Zach LaVine led the Bulls with 24 points while Wendell Carter Jr and Ryan Arcidiacano each finished with 15. Jabari Parker had 13 for Bulls, who shot 39 of 82 from the field (47.6 percent) and 7-of-18 from 3-point distance (38.9 percent). The Bulls improved to 4-9, currently in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.
Tristan Thompson was a workhorse for the Cavaliers with 22 points and 12 rebounds while Sexton and Rodney Hood each had 20. Fil-Am Jordan Clarkson came off the bench and acquitted himself well with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists in just 25 minutes of play.
The worst team in the NBA record-wise, the injury-depleted Cavaliers dropped to 1-11.
