XIANG BEATS SABILLO IN QINZHOU
By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sun, 16 Sep 2018

QINZHOU, CHINA ? Jing Xiang of China outfought Filipino Merlito Sabillo in a grueling twelve round match for the vacant WBC Silver light flyweight title Saturday at the Qinzhou Gymnasium.
It was a fast paced fight and the southpaw Sabillo was dangerous in the early rounds as he showed flashes of his old form when he won the WBO world minimumwieght world title in 2013.
He caught Xiang with his left cross and sent him on the backfoot. But Xiang showed his fighting heart and did not disappoint the noisy partisan crowd. He matched Sabillo?s power shots and got stronger as the fight wore on.
Sabillo?s thirty-four year old lungs and reflexes betrayed him in the endgame, as Xiang piled up the points and outslugged him a fiery finish.
Judge Hisatoshi Miyazaki (Japan) scored it 119-109, Chaveany Krutkate (Thailand) ? 117-111 and Shin Kyoung-ka (S.Korea) ? 118- 110.
Xiang is now 15-4-2,3KO?s while Sabillo continues his downward skid at 27-6-1,13KO?s.
In a fun heavyweight clash, China?s Wu Zhi Yu outlasted Japanese Kotatsu Takehara to take the WBC ABCO Heavyweight belt.
Both boxers threw defense out of the window and traded hard punches until they were near exhaustion.
Wu won by a unanimous verdict from the same three judges ? 96-94.
Supervising for the WBC were Robert Yalen (USA) and Damrong Simakajornboon (Thailand). The bouts were sanctioned by the Professional Boxing Commission of China.
For the undercard results ? Gao Shichao beat Filipino expat Rihcard Garcia by unanimous decision, Jian Wang won by 4TH round TKO against Yuttichai Wannawong of Thailand and Wu Zefeng prevailed by unanimous decision over Yue Chang.
