WEIGHTS FROM T-MOBILE ARENA: CANELO - 159.4 LBS., GGG - 159.6 LBS. (PHOTOS)

PhilBoxing.com

LAS VEGAS -- The official weigh-in for the huge Canelo vs GGG2 was held moments ago at the swank T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. The venue is the same place where tomorrow’s (Saturday's) blockbuster fight featuring two of the best middleweight boxers in the world will be held.

The fight is a join venture of Oscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions (representing Canelo Alvarez ) and Tom Loffler’s 360 Promotions (representing GGG).

The results are as follows:

Canelo Alvarez (Guadalajara, MX) 49-1-2 (34KO) ……………….159.4
Genady Golovkin ( Los Angeles) 38-0-1 (34KO)…………………..159.6
This fight is for the WBC,WBA, IBO, Ring Magazine Middleweight titles (12 rounds)

Jaime Munguia (Tijuana, MX) 30-0-0 (25KO) ……………….154
Brandon Cook (Ontario,Canada) 20-1-0 13KO………………153.2
This fight is for the WBO Junior Middleweight Title (12 rounds)

Jaime Mungia (L) and Brandon Cook.

David Lemieux (L) and Gary O'Sullivan.

David Lemieux (Montreal, Canada) 39-4-0 (33KO) ………………….160
Gary O’Sullivan (Cork, Ireland) 28-2-0 (20KO)…………………………..159.2
This fight is for the WBA Middleweight Eliminator (12 rounds)

Roman Gonzalez (Managua, NIC) 462-0-38KO ……………….114.8
Moises Fuentes (Mexico City) 25-5-1 (14KO)…………………..116 (Overweight in spite of being stripped naked)

Roman Gonzalez (L) and Moises Fuentes.

Vergil Ortiz (Dallas, TX) 10-0-0 (10KO) ………………….139.6
Roberto Ortiz (Torreon, MX) 35-2-2 (26KO)…………………139.8

Alexis Rocha and Carlos Ortiz Cervantes.

Alexis Rocha (Sta Ana, CA) 11-0-0 (8KO)…………………148.4
Carlos Ortiz (Torreon, MX) 10-2-0 (10KO)…………………148

Jaba Khositashvili and Lawrence King.

Jaba Khositabhvili (Philadelphia PA 3-0-0 (2KO)……………166.6
Lawrence King (San Bernardino, CA) 4-0-0 (3KO)……………168.4

Brian Cebello and David Thomas.

Brian Cebello (New York, NY) 4-0-0 (2KO)…………………..146.2
David Thomas (Orange, TX) 6-3-1 (2KO) …………………….. 146

Unfortunately, the promoters were not able to “face-off” Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin because the very arrogant Canelo and his equally arrogant Team wanted top start a fight right then and there before the face off was even done. Their action, to this writer was a blatant show of false Mexican bravado.
