Fury outpoints Pianeta and sets up heavyweight mega-bout with Wilder By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sun, 19 Aug 2018 Former heavyweight champ Tyson Fury passed the second test of his comeback trail against Francesco Pianeta in Belfast Saturday night. Fury cruised to a one sided 10 round victory by points against his unknown opponent at Windsor Park in Northern Ireland to set up a mega-fight between World Boxing Council king- Deontay Wilder. Wilder has been at Belfast during fight week to generate buzz of a future fight with Fury. The current WBC titleholder was also at ringside as a curious spectator and later on invited to the ring where both fighters confirmed that they will be facing each other this year. ?This fight is on. This fight is official. This is what we?ve been waiting for, the best fighting the best,? Wilder announced. The details of the fight will be announced next week according to Frank Warren, promoter of Fury, but his ward announced the possible venue when he confronted Wilder. ?They called, I answered. I said send me the contract, they sent the contract. I said yes. And now, he gets his shot to fight the lineal heavyweight champion of the world. My promise is, I got my rounds here tonight but one thing I promised once I get to Las Vegas is that I?m knocking you out,? Fury stated. Fury, 30, of the United Kingdom faced no danger against Pianeta in the course of their 10 round fight which was the co-main event of the interim World Boxing Organization Featherweight championship clash between Carl Frampton and Luke Jackson. The former heavyweight champ outboxed and out-punched his Italian opponent to remain undefeated at 27-0. This is his second fight in 10 weeks. He previously won by TKO against Sefer Seferi last June 9th In Manchester, England. The former lineal heavyweight king has been out of the ring for 31 months following his biggest career victory - an upset of Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 where he won the WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO belts and accolades such as The Ring Magazine?s Fighter Of The Year. This year he can add the WBC title to his list of accomplishments if he beats the 32 year old Wilder who is also unbeaten at 40-0 and most importantly, an eye-catching 39 knockouts. A press conference is planned for London next week to formally announce the fight. You can reach the author at rrmaze24@aol.com and @Freemazon910 on Twitter.
