NBA --- Spurs top Rockets, 100-83, in Texas Showdown By Adeline Deladisma PhilBoxing.com Wed, 04 Apr 2018 SAN ANTONIO. The San Antonio Spurs bested the visiting Houston Rockets 100-83 on Sunday in the AT&T Center. The Spurs? avoided being swept in their season series, and at the same time, ending the Rockets? current win streak at 11. The Spurs led for most of the contest, leading 46-38 at the half. They stepped on the gas in the fourth quarter and opened up a 20 point lead with five minutes left in the game. San Antonio held Houston to 33.8% shooting and kept them at a dismal 22.6% from three-point range. The league?s leading MVP candidate, James Harden had 25 points and 8 assists for the Rockets. Houston?s All-Star point guard Chris Paul was out for the fifth time in six games with a hip injury. LaMarcus Aldridge had a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds for the Spurs. Rudy Gay came off the bench with 21 points in the effort. While the Rockets have secured their Playoff spot and also home court advantage throughout the Playoffs, head coach Mike D?Antoni voiced caution over the remaining two weeks of the season. ?You?ve got to be careful taking guys out and resting them. Everybody wants rest?. Well they?ve got to play. Otherwise we?re going to lose the advantage of what you?ve worked for for 80 games.? San Antonio has yet to clinch a Playoff spot and have been playing with just the right amount of desperation. They had a win over Oklahoma City Thunder at home last Thursday that moved them to 4th place in the Western Conference. Of his team?s recent effort, Gay said, ?We?ve been through some ups and downs this season, but we?re picking up at the right time. You know, there is no better time than this. This is when teams make or break themselves. This is when everyone picks their game up? The Spurs will next play the Clippers in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The Rockets host the Washington Wizards also on Tuesday. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Adeline Deladisma. ![]() |
