MAJOR LEAGUE BOXING RUMBLES ON IN JINAN By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sun, 01 Apr 2018 JINAN, CHINA- Major League Boxing had their second show after the Lunar New Year break in the capital of Shandong province. Two back to back fight dates with a total of eighteen fights, with twelve boxers making their professional debut. The best bout on the first day of competitions was the slambang junior lightweight bout between Wang Yanbing and Wang Yu. Yanbing was dropped in round one but stormed back in the second, sending Yu on the backfoot. Yu was on the receiving end of power punches and was dazed on his feet prompting veteran Thai Referee Surat Soikrachang to stop the fight at the 2:24 mark. For the rest of day one ? Zeng Yujie beat Wang Wansheng by TKO in round three, Wang Nan chose not to enter the third round in his fight against Huerban Qiatehe, Li Bai and Chen Suhai fought to a majority draw, Ma Qiang stopped Jiang Zhengyu with a body shot in round one, Geng Chunlin won by unanimous decision against Tong Kelei, Xiao Haicheng also got a unanimous nod against Zheng Shuo, Wu Ju beat Wang Hoa by unanimous verdict and Zhu Yongxin beat Yang Lishan by majority decision. The most impressive fighter on the second day was junior middleweight Chang Shaoheng, who showed excellent footwork and counterpunching, including a few Mayweather-like defensive moves to outpoint Ma Mingyu. Another action-packed bout on the second day was featherweight Jiang Lei?s unanimous win over Su Xiaotao. Both boxers traded hard well placed shots from start to finish. For the rest of day two ? Qu Zhiang beat Liu Bingjiang by unanimous decision, Peng Yong also got a unanimous verdict against Li Lijie, Shi Juhui and Ayibole Mulatihan fought to a majority draw, Yeerlan Nuerlanbieke won by unanimous decision against Ma Hai, Yang Zhongming and Aketeliete Yelejian battled to a unanimous draw, Lu He beat Liu Shengyuan by TKO in the second round and Tumaerbieke Nuerbieke won by unanimous decision against Yin Zhihao. Major League Boxing, formerly known as the League of Fists, is a continuing pro boxing talent search which started in 2015 and is promoted by SECA and TOP RANK. The winners in the previous seasons in their respective weight categories were crowned WBO Greater China champions.
