NOYNAY STUNS PAN, WINS WBO AND WBC BELTS By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sun, 17 Dec 2017 Noynay celebrates. ZHONGSHAN, CHINA- Unheralded Joe Noynay of the Philippines overcame the odds at the Zhongshan Sports Arena and beat the hometown favorite Pan Jing Xiang and acquired two regional belts - the WBO Asia Pacific Youth super featherweight crown and the vacant WBC ABCO silver super featherweight title. It was a tense tactical struggle from the start but Noynay stunned Pan with a sneaky uppercut in the second round, dropping the Chinese boxer for the first knockdown of the fight. Pan immediately got up and continued to exchange well placed punches. But the southpaw Noynay?s awkwardness proved to be his advantage and he dropped Pan again in the third with a body shot. Pan seemed more surprised than hurt and rallied in the subsequent rounds. But in the sixth, an accidental clash of heads opened a long ugly gash above Noynay?s right eyebrow. The action continued and Pan, sensing he was still in a deep hole, continued to be aggressive. In the eighth round, the cut got deeper with blood continuing to trickle into the Filipino?s eye forced the stoppage. The three judges had Noynay ahead ? Michelle Ng (Macau) ? 76-74, Surat Soikrachang (Thailand) ? 76-74 and Martino Redona (USA) ? 78-72. The referee was Atty. Danrex Tapdasan. The Filipino corner erupted in celebration. Noynay, who traces his roots to Bogo, Cebu, goes up to 13-2-1,4KO?s. Noynay given his WBO and WBC belts. This was Pan?s first career loss and he drops to 8-1, 4KO?s. He was also a former WBO Greater China super featherweight titleholder. Yilixiati Ainiwaer (China) stopped Tornike Gikashvili (Georgia) in the second round with hard body shots to win the vacant WBC ABCO super middleweight title. There were no knockdowns but Referee Surat Soikrachang correctly decided to stop the one sided beating. Yilixaiti Ainiwaer wins WBC ABCO title. Zuilipikaer wins the WBA Asia title. In the last bout of the night, Zulipikaer Maimaitiali (China) beat Pavel Semjonov (Estonia) by a lopsided unanimous verdict and garnered the vacant WBA Asia super middleweight title. Supervising for the WBO was WBO VP for Asia Pacific Leon Panoncillo, supervising for the WBA was Won Suk Lim and Patrick Cusick and Damrong Simakajornboon represented the WBC. For the rest of the undercards - Xu Que (China) beat Julio dela Basez (Indonesia) by KO in round two. Li Leshan (China) won against Waldo Sabu (Indonesia), who chose not to answer the bell in the second, claiming an arm injury. Zou Bin beat Xingqiang Hu by unanimous decision.
