NBA -- Irving's 33 carries Celtics past Nuggets
By Oliver Iglesias PhilBoxing.com Fri, 15 Dec 2017

BOSTON ? Kyrie Irving scored 33 points while Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown made a combined 15-of-21 field goals to lift the Boston Celtics over the Denver Nuggets, 124-118, on Wednesday night at the T.D. Garden.
Without the tenacious defense of Al Horford who sat out the game for rest, the Nuggets took a 31-30 first quarter lead with Harris accounting for 11 markers. Then the trio of Shane Larkin, Tatum and Brown started piling up the points from the perimeter, giving Boston the lead at halftime, 68-59.
Denver kept pushing in the third quarter to tie it at 85 on a Harris tip-in, but Boston retaliated with a 9-0 tear for a 106-94 lead it never relinquished since.
Celtics? Brown finished with 26 points, Tatum added 15 and center Aron Baynes contributed 17. Larkin was 6-of-6 from the field for 14 points.
Starting guard Harris had 36 points and 6 assists and Jamal Murray added 28 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Nuggets, who fell to 15-13.
Overall, Boston shot 47-of-79 from the field for a 59.5 percent clip while Denver had 45-of-91 for 49.5 percent conversion rate.
The Celtics kept its league-leading 24-6 record and will next play the Utah Jazz Friday night.
