TEPORA RECEIVES WBO INTER-CONTINENTAL BELT

MANDAUE CITY, CEBU ? Jhack ?El Capitan? Tepora of the Omega Boxing Gym of Cebu formally received his WBO Inter-continental featherweight title belt in front of appreciative fans who watched the ?WHO?S NEXT?? 5: CIVIL WAR fight card held Friday at the Mandaue Sports Complex.
Tepora (21W-0L,16KO?s) won the title in South Africa last September 22 by second round knockout win over home fighter Lusanda Komanisi, a former IBO world titleholder, in his first stint overseas as a professional. Highlights of the fight was shown on a giant screen before Tepora walked into the ring.
He was handed his belt by WBO assistant supervisor Rolando Mendoza. Together with Tepora was Omega Pro Sports International (OPSI) President Pio Paulo Castillo and Omega gym trainer Julius Erving Junco.
The latest rankings of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) lists Tepora as the number four featherweight contender.
Tepora stated in a press conference last month that he feels more comfortable at 126 lbs. He was the WBO Oriental champ at 122lbs. The current WBO world featherweight champion is Oscar Valdez of Mexico.
There are three other Filipinos in the WBO top fifteen 126 lb rankings ? Mark Magsayo (number 2),Albert Pagara (number 11) and Richard Pumicpic (number 15).
