KOREAN STRENGTH COACH PREPARES HORN AND MUGABI SAYS AUSSIE WILL SHOCK PACQUIAO

PhilBoxing.com

Jeff Horn hires a Korean strength and conditioning coach in an effort to provide the firepower to surprise Manny Pacquiao in their world welterweight title fight in July 2 at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia. Dundee Kim, whose real name was Deuk Rae Kim, came to Australia 20 years ago to find his fortune and new wife. He was a soldier in the Korean army and took up boxing to defend himself because he was bullied in school.

?Dundee has been a key figure in my pro career,?? Horn was quoted by The Courier Mail. ?Glenn Rushton is my boxing coach and manager and Dundee helps Glenn with all my strength and conditioning work.? He was operating a popular gym, the Dundee?s Boxing and Fitness. He became the Regional Director of International Relations at James Cook University, speaks four languages, and has a Master of Business Administration degree.

John ?The Beast? Mugabi, who has lived in Australia for 21 years, said Jeff Horn has the power in both hands to shock Manny Pacquiao and knock him out in the biggest boxing fight in Australia. He was a regular at Dundee Kim?s gym at Brisbane and told The Courier Mail: ?Jeff Horn will shock Pacquiao. Pacquiao can be hit and hurt and Jeff is a great puncher. Very strong. Pacquiao will not be expecting the sort of power he has.? The 1980 Olympics silver medallist for Uganda added that ?Pacquiao is a great fighter but he will get a big surprise in this fight.??

Mugabi was a former WBC superwelterweight champion and challenged Marvelous Marvin Hagler for the undisputed world middleweight championship. He lost by an 11th round knockout. But it was Hagler?s last boxing victory because he retired when he was beaten by Sugar Ray Leonard by split decision. When Mugabi retired, he had a record of 42 wins, 7 losses and 1 draw, 39 wins by knockout. His 25 fight knockout winning streak stands as one of the longest KO streaks ever in boxing.

Top rank boss Bob Arum said he wants to make Manny Pacquiao-Terence Crawford fight to happen as soon as possible, most probably by November this year. Crawford is scheduled to face Felix Diaz on May 20 at Madison Square Garden. If Crawford wins he is set to face Julius Indongo of Namibia who is the IBF, IBO and WBA lightwelterweight champ. Crawford will defend his WBO and WBC lightwelterweight titles against Diaz.
According to Arum, Crawford would love to fight again in summer if he hurdles Diaz. And if he wins over Indongo, he is willing to face Pacquiao in fall. ?Manny Pacquiao is the kind of guy that?s not afraid to step up and fight anybody. Terence Crawford is the rising star in boxing,? Arum told Boxing Scene. ?Everybody would love to see that fight. And if it?s a fight that the fans wanna see, a promoter has the obligation to make it happen.?

John Wall hit a clutch 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds left in the ballgame which serves as the go-ahead basket for the 92-91 win of the Washington Wizards over the visiting Boston Celtics to tie the Western conference semi-final series at 3-3. Wall, the 2010 NBA first pick for the Wizards, overcame a sluggish 1-for-12 start to finish with 26 points second to Bradley Beal who topscored with 33 points. The backcourt duo combined for 23 of Washington?s 26 points in the see-saw fourth quarter. Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley both scored 27 points for the Celtics who blew up an 87-82 lead in the last two minutes. Game 7 will be back at Boston in the series where the two teams win every game played at home.
