INDIANA ? Kevin Durant showed the stuff MVPs are made of.
The 8-time All-Star dropped 38 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 102-91 Game 3 victory over the Utah Jazz on Saturday night at the Vivint Smart Home Arena in downtown Salt Lake City.
Durant went 15-of-26 from the field, 4-of-8 from three-point range and 4-for-4 from the free throw stripe, lifting the Warriors to a commanding 3-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinals.
The Utah Jazz battled hard, led 50-49 at the half and were up 79-78 with 6:24 left in the fourth quarter. But Durant asserted himself in the homestretch carrying his team on a night when Steph Curry and Klay Thompson missed 22 of 27 field goals and managed only a combined 29 points.
Andre Iguodala, 11 points and 4 rebounds, was the only other Warriors who scored in double figures but Draymond Green had a solid 9 points and 10 rebounds. The Warriors remained unbeaten in these NBA playoffs despite shooting only 44 percent from the field and 30 percent from long distance.,
Utah shot just 39 percent from the field but kept the game close behind Gordon Hayward's 29 points. Robert Gobert chipped in 21 with 15 rebounds while Shelvin Mack had 11. The Jazz made only seven of 22 threes and missed 10 free throws.
The Jazz will try to stave off elimination on Monday night when the best-of-7 series resumes at the Vivint Smart Home Arena.
