One great thing not happening in PH sports By Recah Trinidad PhilBoxing.com Sat, 11 Feb 2017 Dr. Mequi. THERE?S a hidden development in the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) which has duly disturbed the trusted youth and sports development guru Dr. Aparicio Mequi. ?Joey Romasanta?s thinking of a 65-year-old cap to the POC presidency is preparing Mikee to take over after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics? mused Dr. Mequi, former chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission. Mikee, to those who care to wonder, is the International Olympic Committee (IOC) representative to the Philippine and favorite daughter of POC president Peping Cojuangco. ** Whether what Dr Mequi suspects is possible or not, what truly looms is that CHANGE in the POC may not come in this lifetime. The rot continues to gnaw deeper at the decayed foundations of poor Philippine sports. There?s so much to work for, but too little hope. ** Explained Dr. Mequi:? ?Buddy Andrada is following Peping?s senile and amnesiac act. This should be stopped. Andrada has a serious health problem but he?s a legacy of the Peping Cojunagco dynastic and impotent rule.? Dr. Mequi reported that there are a total of 15 National Sports Associations with leadership problems. ?Why does Buddy Andrada still want to be president of Philta? And Hontiveros rushly made president of handball?? continued Dr. Mequi. He added: ?And Mark Joseph still at swimming after that embarrassing display of his divers landing on their backs, enough reason to commit hara kiri? And even Peping Cojuangco being questioned by members of his association.? ** Yes, do these self-styled sports leaders have a vision, a sense of mission? Dr. Mequi said it will be interesting to watch where these troubled associations will turn to if PSC chair Butch Ramirez does not waver in his resolve to withhold funding support. To the IOC? Politicians? ?If you grant amnesty to just one NSA, there will be no reform and change,? Dr. Mequi told Ramirez. ?God bless your effort.?
