LEAGUE OF FISTS: HUANG AND CHAO WIN SEMI-FINAL BOUTS

PhilBoxing.com

SHANGHAI, CHINA - There were two semi-final bouts on tap on the second day of the three-day fight schedule for the League of Fists professional boxing tournament.

For the middleweight division, Wulamu Tulake charged and came out swinging for Huang Juxiang at the opening bell. But Huang, a southpaw from Shanghai, managed to hold Tulake off.

In the second round, Huang decked Tulake twice, when he tagged him with short lefts every time Tulake came punching in.
Referee Sawaeng Thaweekoon stopped the fight at the 2:18 mark of the 2nd.

Huang will meet Wang Jianjing in the finals for the right to be crowned WBO Greater China champion in the 160lb category. Wang earned his finals slot last Friday by beating Maheshati Bolatihan by TKO in the opening round.

The second semis fight was a close hard fought match in the light flyweight division. Chao Lemen emerged victorious by split verdict against Li Guangxiong. The scores ? Yuan Yunzi and Surat Soikrachang ? 58-56 for Chao, Michelle Ng ? 59-55 for Li.

In a featured undercard bout Yilixiati Ainiwaer - who was crowned WBO Greater China supermiddleweight champion last July ? easily disposed of Liu Guicheng and knocked Liu out with a body shot in the second round. Time ? 2:21.

Kuranbaev Avzalbek and Talifeng Haoken ended in a bloody technical draw after an accidental clash of heads in the opening round left Talifeng bleeding profusely from his nose.

In a cruiserweight match, Muhetaer Maihemuti beat Aizemaiti Yasen by TKO with only three seconds left in the fourth and final round. Yasen was fighting with a bloodied nose since the end of round one and in the dying seconds of the fight, was at the receiving end of several unanswered punches, with blood continuing to drip from his nose, prompting Referee Mekin Sumon to call a halt to the bout.

For the rest of the undercard matches ? Wuyunbilige won against Feng Lei by unanimous decision (Scores ? Yan Wenyong and Yang Hong ? 40-36, Mekin Sumon ? 39-37), Zhu Yuancai beat Chen Jin also by unanimous verdict (Atty. Danrex Tapdasan, Zhao Yubin and Yuan Yunzi ? 39-37) and in the opening bout of the night, Kenbati Haiyilao used a right straight to the jaw to knockout Zhang Zheng at 2:45 of the second round.

This fight card was set at the Xianxia Tennis Center in Shanghai. The League of Fists boxing tournament announced the opening of its third season last Thursday. The fight series is promoted by SECA and TOP RANK. The bouts were officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC) of China.
