NBA -- Pacers blast Bulls, 111-94, in early season rematch

INDIANAPOLIS -- Jeff Teague had 21 points and 6 assists for the Indiana Pacers in a rematch against the Chicago Bulls at Bankers Life Fieldhouse Saturday night (Sunday morning Manila time). Separated by only 184 miles along a stretch of Interestate 65, the Eastern Conference rivals met a week ago in Chicago, when the Bulls beat the Pacers 118-101.

"We know what they did to us in Chicago and we responded," said first year Pacer head coach Nate McMillan.

The start of the NBA season has been a proving ground for most, if not all, as the NBA went through an active free agency period that caused a shake up for many teams. This included the Bulls, who traded Chicago veterans Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah, and gained guards Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo. The Pacers had a changing of guards as well, sending George Hill to Phoenix and acquiring Jeff Teague from the Atlanta Hawks. Indiana also has a new, though experienced, head coach in McMillan, who had been a Pacers assistance for the last few seasons and an NBA head coach.

It was a wire to wire win for the Pacers. The final score belies the trouncing that the Bulls received, as the Pacers maintained a double digit lead for most of the game, extending it to as many as 27 points.

In an uncharacteristic turn, Indiana guard Paul George was ejected from the game late in the 3rd quarter after kicking the ball, which then went into the stands, inadvertently hitting a fan. CJ Miles picked up George's minutes, posting 20 points, including 4 for 7 from 3 point range.

The Bulls were led by forward Jimmy Butler and second year man Bobby Portis, who each had 16 points.

Both teams now stand at 3-3. The Bulls, who started the season 3-0, look to regroup against the Orlando Magic at home on Monday. The Pacer are still looking for their first road win and will face the Hornets in Charlotte also on Monday.
