The 30th annual Ring 8 Holiday Event and Awards Ceremony will be held Sunday afternoon (12:30-5:30 p.m. ET), December 11, at Russo's On The Bay in Howard Beach, New York with WBA featherweight champion Carl Frampton named ?International Fighter of the Year.?

Ring 8 has announced its 2016 award winners (including Hall-of-Famer Barry McGuigan (International Fighter Achievement), reigning world champions Carl Frampton (International Fighter of the Year) andDanny Jacobs (New York State Fighter of the Year), Joe Smith, Jr. (Knockout of the Year), and 2016 Rio Olympic silver medalist Shakur Stevenson (Service to "Your Country" Award) of the United States.

Ireland?s Carl Frampton who moved up in weight became a two division champion with a twelve round majority decision over previously unbeaten Leo Santa Cruz in a veritable war at the Barclay?s Center in Brooklyn, New York last July. With the impressive win Frampton improved to 23-0 with 14 knockouts while Santa Cruz suffered his first setback to drop to 32-1-1 with 18 knockouts.

Frampton?s manager and former world champion Barry McGuigan, also an awardee who held the title three decades ago said? This is one of the greatest nights of my life. It doesn?t get much better than this.?

Ring 8 president Bob Duffy said "Our members look forward to this event every year."

The Ring 8 president added, "We have another great group of award winners. Committed celebrity guests include former world champions Mark Breland, Iran Barkley and Vito Antuofermo, as well as Vinny Maddalone, Sean Monahan, Bobby Cassidy,Harold Lederman and Frankie Galarza with others expected to attend. We truly appreciate them lending their support.?

Duffy noted that Ring 8 ?proudly continues its record for lending a helping hand to those in the boxing community who are less fortunate. Each year our Holiday Event and Awards Ceremony celebrates our great sport of boxing, insuring much-needed funding is raised so we may continue our mission for our needy brothers and sisters in boxing.
