ESTRADA AIMS AT GONZALEZ REMATCH AFTER SUCCESSFUL SUPERFLY DEBUT AGAINST TABUGON

PhilBoxing.com

Filipino Raymond has taken former WBO/WBA world flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada for the full ten rounds but loses by a shutout 100-90 on the scorecards of all three judges in a fight card at the Francisco Le?n Garc?a Baseball Stadium in Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico Sunday morning, Manila Time.

Boxing Scene reported that 'Gallo' Estrada (34-2, 24 KOs) was hoping to make a big statement in his super flyweight debut, but instead he dominated Filipino Raymond Tabugon (18-6-1, 8 KOs) over ten one-sided rounds.

Estrada, due to a hand injury was out of the ring since September 2015 and recently vacated his World Boxing Organization and World Boxing Association flyweight titles.

The 26-year-old Estrada is gunning for a rematch with Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, who won a war over Estrada in 2012 at junior flyweight. Gonzalez recently made the jump to super flyweight and captured the WBC title from Carlos Cuadras two weeks go in Los Angeles.

Chocolatito was not exactly spectacular in his 115 debut. He won a close fight, and some saw it as a draw. Along the way, his face took a lot of punishment from the heavy hands of Cuadras.

A few weeks ago, Chocaltito said he was more interested in a rematch with Cuadras than a rematch with Estrada. HBO is reportedly very interested in televising an Gonzalez-Estrada rematch - but both fighters are looking for seven figure purses to do the fight.

The next order of business for Estrada is a major opponent in 2017 - although Estrada had mentioned the loose possibility of fighting again in December if possible. He wants to get himself in a world title eliminator and named Cuadras as the perfect opponent - with the winner getting a direct shot at Chocolatito.

Estrada won the WBO/WBA flyweight belts in a classic majority decision win over Filipino Brian Viloria at the Cotai Arena in Macau on April 6, 2013 with judge Levi Martinez scoring it 115-113 for Viloria while the two other judges ? Michael Pernick (116-111) and Francisco Martinez (117-111) had it for Estrada who came back strong in the second half of the fight after Viloria out-boxed Estrada in the first six rounds.
