By Maloney L. Samaco PhilBoxing.com Wed, 21 Sep 2016

Edgar Sosa won the WBC lightflyweight title by winning over former champion Brian Viloria by unanimous decision. Sosa later successfully defend his title ten times. On November 21, 2009, Sosa lost the belt to Rodel Mayol. In the second round, Sosa was badly headbutted by Mayol, falling to the canvas and causing an injury which was later diagnosed to be a triple-fracture. On May 16, 2015, he fought Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, the WBC flyweight king, and lost by second round TKO after being knocked down thrice. Sosa will face Donnie "Ahas" Nietes on September 24, 2016 at the StubHub Center, Carson, California for the vacant WBO inter-continental flyweight title.
