BOXING TRIVIA: CANELO HOLDS HIS SEVENTH TITLE BELT

Sa?l "Canelo" ?lvarez is now the WBO light middleweight champion, and also the Ring and lineal middleweight titlist since 2015. The Mexican previously held the WBC light middleweight title from 2011 to 2013, the WBA (Unified) and Ring light middleweight diadems in 2013; and the WBC middleweight belt from 2015 to 2016. As of August 2016, ?lvarez is ranked as the world's best boxer pound for pound by BoxRec and eighth by The Ring.

Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin a.k.a. GGG is currently the unified WBA (Super), WBC, IBF and IBO middleweight champion. As of July 2016, he is ranked as the world's number one middleweight by The Ring and BoxRec. The Kazakh boxer is also ranked as the world's third best boxer, pound for pound, by The Ring and BoxRec. He won the gold at the 2003 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Bangkok. He bagged the silver medal at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics when he lost to Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov of Russia, 18-28.

Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine defeated the champion Krzysztof Glowacki of Poland to capture the WBO world cruiserweight crown in a battle of undefeated fighters. Usyk won the world title in his only tenth professional fight. He was also the winner of the 2008 European Amateur Boxing Championships at light-heavyweight, the 2011 World Amateur Boxing Championships at heavyweight and the gold medalist at the 2012 London Olympics in the heavyweight division.
