PH FIRST GOLD MEDAL, ONE AND ONLY CHANCE? DO THE MATH!

PhilBoxing.com

USA -- The Philippines participated in the Olympiad 22 times from 1924 to 2012. It was in the 1924 Paris Games, the 7th Olympiad, where the Philippines made its debut. For 88 years competing, we only have 9 medals: 2 silvers, 7 bronzes and ZERO Gold.

If we do the math here, for silver, we have a rate of 9.09% (2 Silvers/22 Olympiads). For the Philippines to get another silver, it will take us another 11 Olympiads. For bronze, we have a rate of 31.82% (7 Bronzes / 22 Olympiads). We will get 1 bronze in every 3 Olympics.

Now here?s the most interesting part, HOW ABOUT THE GOLD, WHAT'S OUR CHANCES TO GET THAT MOST PRECIOUS GOLD MEDAL?... Let?s do the math again, are you ready for this? Hahahahaha?. For Gold; with a rate of 0% (0 Golds / 22 Olympiads), for Philippines to get that elusive GOLD (I hate that word elusive, Gold is not elusive, the Government Officials whose supposed to allocate enough fundings/support to our athletes are the ELUSIVES), to achieve 1 Gold is still unknown for Philippines, there are no projections yet, we cannot predict it yet, it is not given yet, we don?t have history yet to base our mathematical facts that we can win 1 Gold. It's baseless, nada, cannot be identified yet.

Hey! Are you guys sad?

Me? I am not sad at all! Of all the zero percent chances that we have, of all the infinity numbers that cannot be equated yet to win that Gold medal, there is one Known that can make these unknowns into reality.

And that Known factor is none other than Sen. Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao.

He defied several zero percent chances where he achieved something out of nothing: Cigarette vendor to Billionaire, 8 weight division Champion (unheard of), beating the unbeatable Moraleses, Barreras, Marquezs, DelaHoyas, making it to the PBA, Senate, Congress, PMAer etc...

Since we based this story on a mathematics, zero percent chance is a no chance. Competing in the Olympics for 88 years with no gold medal, is like saying let's participate for another 88 years and still we don?t gonna have a gold medal.

But if Sen. Pacquiao obliged the IOC president?s invitation to represent Philippines, maybe we don?t need to wait infinity to have 1 Gold medal.

But you know what?s the crazy part of this story? When are we going to have our second Gold medal? Same question as, when are we going to have a second Manny Pacquiao?... lets do a quick math, since boxing begins around late 1600s, there?s only 0.2985% chance that another Manny Pacquiao shows up, meaning a man who can deliver a Gold for Philippines only shows up every 335 years.

Now, my question is, who wants to see a Gold medal right now in our lifetime, or just wait maybe another 300 years for another Manny Pacquiao that will accept IOC president?s invitation to compete for our first gold.

Me? I can?t wait!

DO THE MATH!!!! KUMBATEA!

Btw, Cuban boxers were not young when they compete in the Olympics. Teofilo Stevenson was 28 yrs old when he won his 3rd Gold; Felix Savon was 33 yrs old when he won his 3rd gold, Mario Kindelan was 33 yrs old when he won his 2nd gold. As my Cuban neighbor Lorenzo told me, our boxers excelled in amateur coz if you do the math they should be professional boxers but competing in amateurs.

Oh!BeerTime!

CONGRATULATIONS to our presumptive President Elect Mayor Duterte, I wish him luck, may his good intentions to promote our country continues? was OKCs? brutal loss on game 2 against GSW same as the cruel lost in SA series game one? But hey OKC bounced back, let?s see? who would like to see a rematch, maybe it?s not a rematch coz Irving was not there last year? but a Curry-Irving showdown, that?s a future classic right there, unless Curry won?t do a 15pts in 2minutes, coz that?s frustrating? hey! Congrats to my uncle Bebs Andales and to our new Mayor Tommy Osmena? but I wished Balingit and Goliath won? shoot!... belated Happy Birthday to Duljoman too, Katorse de Mayo!
