PhilBoxing.com

HONG KONG ? Two regional titles will be at stake when Hong Kong?s boxing star Rex Tso battles Young Gil Bae of South Korea for the WBO Asia Pacific and WBC Asia Boxing Council super flyweight titles this Saturday May 14 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.

Tso stepped on the scales at 51.55 kgs (113lbs 10oz) while Young weighed in at 52 kgs (114lbs10oz) during the official weigh-in held Friday afternoon at the Olympian City mall.

Tso will try to keep his unbeaten record of 18-0, 11 KO?s in front of his hometown fans as well as continue his rise up the world rankings. Young (25-5-1,21KO?s) lost in his bid to dethrone Thai Wanheng Menayothin in their WBC minimumweight title fight last year but bounced back with a win over Filipino Ricky Seniego.

Tso spent time training in Cebu, sparring mostly with the boxers of the RWS gym of Cebu City under the tutelage of his Filipino trainer Jake Verano. He also spent time with the Omega gym boxers. His last training session in Cebu lasted for a month.
In his last two fights, Tso scored TKO wins over Thai Khunkiri Wor Wisaruth and Australian Brad Hore. Tso and Young will fight for 12 rounds.

2012 Olympics gold medalist Ryota Murata (9-0,6KO?s) of Japan will also try to keep his unbeaten streak against Brazilian Felipe Pedroso (13-1,11KO?s). In his last fight in January, Murata knocked out Argentine Gaston Vega in Shanghai. Pedroso is on a tear of seven stoppage wins since suffering his only career loss in 2013.

Murata was at 73 kgs while Pedroso weighed 72 kgs. They are scheduled for ten rounds.

For the other undercard matches:

Kuok Kun Ng (Macao) ? 66.6kgs vs Weerachit Kitee (Thailand) ? 66.6kgs ? 6 rounds
Takahiro Oda (Japan) ? 67 kgs vs Jay Solmiano (Philippines) ? 66kgs ? 8 rounds
James Murashige (Japan) ? 62 kgs vs Junar Adante (Philippines) ? 62 kgs ? 6 rounds

The pre-fight physicals and weigh-in were managed by the officials of the Professional Boxing Commission of China. WBO Asia-Pacific VP Leon Panoncillo was on hand to supervise the rules meeting.
