PACQUIAO ON MONDAY'S ELECTIONS: "BEST OF LUCK AND MAY THE BEST MEN WIN" By Eddie Alinea PhilBoxing.com Sun, 08 May 2016 Ring legend and senatorial bet Manny Pacquiao called on all concerned to exercise calm and sobriety to ensure that Monday's general elections will be conducted in the most peaceful and orderly manner. "The campaign period is nearing its end. Only three days remain before we go to the polling places on Monday and choose our next leaders. Lahat ng mga programa de govierno ay nailahad na for the scrutiny of the electorates," Pacquiao narrated Saturday. "Except for some mudslinging and name-callings here and there, the campaign went on relatively peaceful compared to previous political exercises," he told this writer in a telephone interview Saturday while in a campaign sortie. "Despite those sporadic cases of violence, walang grabeng naganap na naging dahilan para magbuwis ng buhay ang marami sa ating mga kababayan," the 37-year-old Congressman from the province of Sarangani said. "Idalangin natin sa Maykapal na sana ay manatili ang ganitong sitwasyon hanggang sa matapos ang botohan, mabilang ang boto at maideklara ang mga nagwagi," the eight-division world champion added. "We can only attain this if we can all unite to make this happen para mapangalagaan natin ang ating demokratikong institusyon. Para maipakita natin sa ating mga kalapit-bansa that this country is not the first democratic country this part of the world for nothing, " the Pambansang Kamao remarked. The Kibawe, Bukidnon-born, likewise, called on the Commission on Elections, the military and police authorities tasked with running and supervising the entire process, from conducting the voting to the counting and canvassing of votes to continue exercising maximum vigilance, fairness, fair play that everything goes smoothly till the end of the exercise. "I also have to give kudos to my fellow candidates running for positions in the national and local levels, their supporters, leaders sa magandang takbo ng kampanya, sa kabila ng sabi ko nga'y mangilan-ngilang di kanais-nais na kaganapang gawa ng iilan lamang," Pacquiao relayed. "Sa mga magwawagi, sana'y maging mapagpakumbaba tayo sa tagumpay. Isiping ninyong hindi kayo ang nagpanalo sa inyong sarili kundi ang mga mamamayan," he said. "Sa mga di susuwertihin, tanggapin ninyo ito nang maluwag sa kalooban. Kaloob ito ng Diyos na sinisiguro kong may mas magandang inilalaan para sa inyo," Pacquiao, a born again Christian added. "In the end, I wish everybody the best of luck and may the best men win," he concluded. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Eddie Alinea. |
