WBC SAYS IT WILL BE SHEER POWER AGAINST DAZZLING SPEED IN CANELO-KHAN TITLE SHOWDOWN By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sat, 07 May 2016 The World Boxing Council says it will be ?sheer power against dazzling quicksilver speed interlaced with high stakes audacity? when WBC middleweight champion, Mexican Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez, defends his crown, against former world champion, Amir ?King? Khan on Sunday, Manila Time, in a bout that the WBC expects to produce ?fireworks? in the ring. The WBC website said the fight will be ?a test of clout against nimbleness? at the outstanding T- Mobile Arena, the newest venue in Las Vegas, which is located to the West of the Las Vegas Strip. The event is presented by Golden Boy Promotions, and will be telecast on a delayed basis by the Philippines Olympic Channel TV 5 at 3:00 p.m. while ABS-CBN Sky Sports will telecast the fights on pay-per-view at 9:00 a.m. with subscribers paying P199. BBC Sports reported that thousands of fans flocked to the official weighg-in which took place in front of the T-Mobile Arena just of the Vegas strip. Both fighters tipped the scales at exactly 155 pounds which was the agreed catch-weight limit with Alvarez putting his 160 pound middleweight title on the line. Former heavyweight champion and British boxing legend Lennox Lewis hjas said Khan can beat Alvarez if he sticks to his game-plan. Lewis told BBC Sport, ?Khan can win if he doesn?t mix it up with Canelo and uses the sweet science instead? pointing out that Khan ?is a great boxer ?moves well and throws great combinations. He will need controlled movements against Canelo, not running around for the sake of it.? Lewis said ?you?ve also got to remember that its not him going into the fight by himself, it's him (Khan) and his trainer Virgil Hunter. S o, if Khan starys from the game-plan Virgil is there saying ?Hey, what are you doing? You were winning each round sticking to the game-plan?? The heavyweight legend said he was ?worried about what will happen when Khan gets hit? but recalled that ?has been down in other fights and I think mentally he?ll be able to overcome it.?
