NBA -- Wade's clutch plays lead Heat over Hornets, force game 7 By Eric Biasbas PhilBoxing.com Sun, 01 May 2016 CHARLOTTE -- Dwayne Wade was not about ready to give up the season yet. With his team facing elimination, the 13 year NBA veteran was clutch in the end game to help Miami Heat beat the Charlotte Hornets, 97-90 in front of a hostile record crowd at the Time Warner Cable Arena. With the Heat holding on to a 90-88 lead and the Hornets threatening a comeback, Wade hit a dagger of a three pointer with 46 seconds left. Al Jefferson answered with a lay-up, and Wade hit a tough contested 18 footer to keep the Heat's lead at five points, 95-90. The grizzled veteran then chased down and blocked Kemba Walker's lay up from behind to preserve the victory and extended their season and forced a deciding Game 7. Wade finished with 23 points and 6 rebounds to lead the Heat while Luong Deng, also efficient the whole game tallied 21 points. "Dwayne Wade did what he has done for years," Hornets' coach Steve Clifford said in his post game press conference. "He's one of the great players of our time. He and Deng set the tone early. Game on the line, he made all the plays. Hats off to him." The Hornets trailed most of the game but the Hornets kept hanging around behind Kemba Walker. The 6'1 point guard almost singlehandedly imposing his will to get the Hornets back in the game. He poured in a career playoff high 37 points, including 14 in the fourth period. Aside form Al Jefferson's 18 points and 9 rebounds and Cody Zeller's 12 points, no other Hornets had a significant contribution in the game. Marvin Williams failed to score, Jeremy Lin was stiffled on his penetration and committed two costly offensive fouls. Second leading scorer, Nic Batum re injured his left ankle and did not play in the second half. The Heat once again outrebounded the Hornets 46-31.They made made 8-out-of-16 triples compared to Hornets' 5-out-of-17.
