OSAWA STOPS ARMED IN GENSAN

GEN. SANTOS CITY ? Hiroshige Osawa of Japan carried the Filipino flag during his ring entrance to honor his mother?s country. His stay inside the ring was short and successful.

Osawa decked Yon Armed of Indonesia with a hard right followed by a left and right hook. Armed got up but Osawa continued his assault, and two more searing hooks later, Armed went down for a second time.

Referee Danrex Tapdasan decided to end the carnage at 2:49 of the first round.

Osawa captured the vacant WBO Asia Pacific featherweight title and goes up to 30-3-4,19KO?s. Armed drops to 12-6-1,6KO?s. Osawa is also a former OPBF and WBO interim Asia-Pacific featherweight champion.

This bout was the first of a three WBO regional title fights held Saturday at the Oval Plaza Gym which saw Vic Saludar and Jake Bornea retain their titles by unanimous decision (see separate stories).

For the undercard matches:

Jade Bornea floored Ronie Sunido with a short body punch and Sunido remained flat on his back as Referee Elizardo Resma reached the count of ten at 2:56 of the opening round.

Bornea was awarded the Mindanao Professional Boxing Federation title.

Bornea also holds the distinction of beating the current WBO minimumweight world champion Kosei Tanaka when they were amateurs in the finals of the 2013 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships held in Subic. Bornea, who is also a former bronze medalist in the World Youth Championships, edged Tanaka, 15-13.

Robert Paradero beat Ian Ligutan by unanimous decision after 10 rounds.

Jetly Purisima hurt Rence Magarce with a body shot and won by TKO in the fifth round.

Vince Paras used a left hook to the ribs to knockout Briel Ozaraga in the first round.

Jeny Boy Buca beat Michael Rodriguez by six round unanimous decision.

Raymart Lumacad won by unanimous decision against Ramil Antaran in 6 rounds.

Ken Jordan vs Joey Antonio ended in a majority draw.

Van June Saludar and Jeffrey Alejandre fought to a split draw after 4 rounds.

Joel Taduran won by TKO in the third round against Michael Borja.

Lony Cadayday beat Anferne Palanca by TKO at the end of round three.

Roger Salaton vs Martin Faderogao was a 4 round majority draw.

Jayson Mama knocked down Roland Beindima in the opening round and won by unanimous decision.

The fight card billed as ?KAMBAL KAMAO? was co-promoted by Amoy Boxing Promotions in cooperation with Ran-ran Boxing Stable, G-Pro Boxing Team and Championship Boxing Development of Kenneth Rontal. The WBO bouts were supervised by WBO VP for Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo.
