NBA -- McDermott shines in Bulls' win over Raptors By Mark Josef PhilBoxing.com Wed, 16 Mar 2016 TORONTO - Doug McDermott couldn't seem to miss a shot Monday night, swishing 9 of 11 field goals for 29 points as the Chicago Bulls continued their dominance of the Toronto Raptors following a 109-107 victory at the Air Canada Centre. McDermott shot 7 of 7 from the field and was perfect from beyond the arc as he poured in 24 of his 29 points in the first half The feat marks the second time McDermott has exploded against the Raptors this season. Back in February 19, he scored 30 in the Bulls' 116-106 win against Toronto at the United Center. When asked what it is about playing against Toronto that gets him playing well, Mcdermott responded, "I don't know it's just a good match-up. I'm able to defend against some of there guys. There's something about playing one of the top teams in the east that gets you motivated." This season, many around the NBA have definitely taken notice of the significant strides that Toronto has taken. Claiming second spot behind the mighty LeBron James and the Cavaliers certainly have justified being called and considered one of the top teams in the east. Toronto currently leads the NBA in offensive rating since the All Star at 113.2 and have beaten winning teams like Atlanta, Portland, Miami and the Cavaliers in the past few weeks. But no matter how much success and accolades the Raptors have this regular season, the measuring stick for real success for the Toronto faithful will be whether it's team can get out of the first round. With the way the Bulls dominated the Raptors tonight by shooting close to 50% from the field, it does not give the Raptor fans a good feeling coming into the last stretch of the season. Specially when the Bulls played without Gasol, Rose and Dunleavy. For one, it is entirely possible that the Bulls could end up at the 7th spot and get a first round date with the Raptors come play off time. Definitely not good news for the Raptor faithful, specially if the Bulls have won all 9 of their previous meeting with your beloved team.
