LOS ANGELES -- The struggling Los Angeles Lakers, the worst team records-wise in the Western Conference (13-51), scored their signature win of the season with a stunning upset of the defending champions Golden State Warriors, 112-95, at Staples Center.
Jordan Clarkson shined for the Lakers with 25 points, making 10 of 21 field goals. Clarskson's backcourt partner, D'Angelo Russell, added 21 and five assists. Five other Lakers scored in double figures as Nick Young and Brandon Bass each had 13 while Kobe Bryant and Julius Randle penciled in 12 apiece.
Lakers shot 47.1 percent from the field, making 41 of their 87 attempts, easily besting the Warriors, who struggled at 40.2 percent (37 of 92), including 4-of-30 from 3-point range (13.3 percent).
Reigning MVP Steph Curry led Golden State with 18 points but the slippery point guard made only 6-of-20 field goals. Klay Thompson had 15 and no other Warriors finished with double figures in points.
LA improved to 13-51. The Warriors fell to 55-6.
