NBA -- Hornets trip Pacers, 108-101 By Eric Biasbas PhilBoxing.com Sun, 06 Mar 2016 CHARLOTTE --- The Charlotte Hornets used a big fourth quarter offensive outburst to come away with a 108-101 victory over the Indiana Pacers before a sold-out crowd at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Kemba Walker had another stellar performance finishing with 33 points, his 10th 30-plus game this season and dished 10 assists while Nic Batum dropped 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists as Charlotte swept the three game season series against Indiana for the first time in franchise history. The Pacers couldn't figure out why they have had a difficult time against the Hornets. "It's tough to say", Pacers' head coach Frank Vogel told media. "Kemba's a difficult cover. I think they are playing as one of the best teams in the league right now. They have just been too much for us." "They imposed their will", a frustrated Pacer's forward Paul George said. "We did the right thing in switching on personnel to match them defensively but they still imposed their will. They still found a way to go to the paint." Trailing by 5 points after halftime, the Pacers outscored the Hornets in the 3rd quarter, 32-25 and led led by as many as 7 and seemed poised for a victory. But Batum and Walker kept the Hornets within striking distance and cut the lead down to two, 82-80 at the end of the third quarter. Then it was Al Jefferson's turn to spearhead the Hornets' run with his post moves, scoring on three consecutive possessions to start the fourth quarter. They would not relinquish the lead after that. The Hornets shot 50 percent (10-out-of-20) from the field in the period. "We couldn't stop Al Jefferson. They are bringing basically an All-star center off the bench", Vogel said. Al Jefferson feels good about his team, " We have a lot of guys who could do special things. We got a lot of different great pieces." The Hornets converted 13-of-31 three point attempts compared to only 9-of-28 for the Pacers. Charlotte has now connected on 10 or more threes in 36 games, tied with Houston for 2nd in NBA. Jefferson tallied 13 points, Frank Kaminsky contributed 8 points and Jeremy Lin added 7 points for the Hornets. Paul George led the Pacers with 35 points, 7 rebounds and 7assists while Monta Ellis contributed 15 markers, Ian Mahinmi had a double-double with 10 point and 14 rebounds and point guard George Hill tallied 12 points and 7 assists. The Pacers (32-30) slid to 7th place in the Eastern Conference half a game ahead of Detroit Pistons (31-30). The surging Hornets (33-28) remain in 6th place, half a game behind Atlanta Hawks (34-28).
