GGG's star shines again after stopping Lemiuex in The Garden By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sun, 18 Oct 2015 New York - If you still don't know his name by now, you are probably living in another planet. Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin or GGG is the new superpower of boxing. His name continues to rise and his star shines brighter with every dominating victory in a sport that is looking for a new breed of headliners. Tonight in a sold-out Madison Square Garden, aka The Mecca of Boxing, the most dangerous and exciting fighter in the planet emerged victorious in a career-defining fight. Golovkin dropped, jabbed, hit, dominated and stopped fellow Middleweight champion, David Lemiuex in 8 rounds in front of twenty thousand plus screaming fans in the famous sports and entertainment arena. Lemiuex, now the former International Boxing Federation title holder was hunted and punished by the knockout-looking Golovkin from the first round until the stoppage of the fight in the 8th - an inevitable result. Golovkin knocked down Lemiuex in the 5th round in a fight that he dominated from the opening bell and the first punch. A game Lemiuex fought bravely to prevent another knockdown and a stoppage by Referee Steve Willis who observed him closely after the 5th. But his bravery would not save him from Golovkin's wicked assault and Willis mercifully and rightfully called a halt in the unification fight at the 1:32 mark of the 8th. Golovkin added the IBF belt to his World Boxing Association (WBA) and crown and remained undefeated at 34-0 with another impressive knockout- his 31st. But Golovkin wants more, he wants another super fight and another world title belt to place around his waist and shoulders. "I want all the belts, now I have two. The winner of Miguel Cotto /Saul Canelo Alvarez for sure," declared the victor. "I'm not sure who will win that fight, but I want to fight the winner next. I'm staying at 160 until I have all the belts." Boxing has found its new superstar in 'GGG'. You can reach the author at rrmaze24@aol.com and @Freemazon910 on Twitter.
