NBA -- Lowry drops 40 in Raptors' win over Wolves By Mark Josef PhilBoxing.com Wed, 14 Oct 2015 Lowry. Toronto - Kyle Lowry provided a treat to this city's loyal fans on Monday night by exploding for 40 points as the Raptors triumphed over the Minnesota Timberwolves, 112-105, at the Air Canada Centre. The Kyle Lowry show took place on Canada's Thanksgiving Day, which also coincided with the Raptors' first preseason game in this current exhibition season. The slippery 6-foot- guard went 13-of-18 from the field, 6-of-9 from long distance and 8-of-8 from the free throw stripe. Lowry's offensive outburst eclipsed Vince Carter's Toronto franchise record of 38 points scored in a preseason contest. After finishing the first quarter behind at 26-25 and trailing for the most part of the second quarter, the Raptors pulled ahead entering the third quarter, 60-59. Corey Joseph had 14 points and four dimes while Jonas Valanciunas pitched in 13 points and six rebounds to help Toronto pull away in the second half. Offseason acquisition Bismack Biyombo showed aggressiveness and rebounding prowess with seven boards that went with his three points and three blocks. First round draft pick Bruno Caboclo only had five points in 15 minutes of action but he fashioned out a highlight reel, an emphatic dunk over and a block on Karl Anthony-Towns, the No.1 pick in last June's draft. Andrew Wiggins was the main man for the Raptors with 21 points while Nemanja Bjelica had 12 points and four rebounds. Gorgui Dieg added 10 but no other Raptor scored in double figures. The Raptors rested star player DeMar DeRozan for the evening while Kevin Garnett of the Minnesota Timberwolves also took the night off. The Raptors head off to the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa for another meeting with the Timberwolves on October 14. They then return to the Air Canada Centre to host the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 18. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Mark Josef. |
