CHARLOTTE -- The NBA's 2015 free agency season officially began on July 1 and the New Orleans Pelicans wasted no time to keep Anthony Davis with the team long term According to multiple reports, including ESPN, the 6-foot-10, 220-pound Davis agreed to remain in New Orleans for a five-year contract extension worth $145 million. The contract extension can't be signed until July 9 when the league moratorium on free agency signing ends. Davis' new deal is the largest in the NBA since Kobe Bryant inked a seven-year extension worth $136 million in the 2004-05 season. Davis, 22. appeared in 78 regular season games in 2014-15 and normed 24.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per. Davis led the Pelicans to a 45-37 regular season record and barely made the playoffs. However, they were bounced off in the first round by the eventual champions, the Golden State Warriors, in four games. Davis averaged 31.5 points and 11 rebounds in the postseason. Davis, a two-time All-Star, averaged 24.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks in the regular season. He increased those averages to 31.5 points and 11 rebounds. KEVIN LOVES CLEVELAND. After weeks on speculation about his future in Cleveland, power forward Kevin Love has chosen to stay with the Cavaliers, after all. "I'm going back to Cleveland. After Game 1 of the NBA Finals, that's when it really struck me. Sitting on the sidelines, I just wanted to help my guys win. I couldn't have been prouder of them as they poured their blood, sweat and tears onto the court," Love wrote a personal essay at the Players' Tribune website. Love's new deal is worth $110 million for five years, ESPN reported. The 26-year old Love, a 7-year NBA veteran, averaged 16.4 points and 9.7 rebounds in 75 regular season games. But he separated his shoulder in the opening round of the playoffs and missed the NBA Finals where the Cavs lost to the Golden State Warriors, 4-2.
