RUENROENG LIKENS HIS IBF TITLE DEFENSE AGAINST CASIMERO TO MAYWEATHER VS PACQUIAO By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 23 Jun 2015 IBF flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng of Thailand likens his title defense against mandatory challenger and former light flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero to the May 2 ?Fight of the Century? between unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr and eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao which Mayweather won on points. Ruenroeng made the comment at the pre-fight press conference at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Bangkok yesterday pointing out that he ?is bigger and taller than Casimero? who he described as ?small.? He said his style ?is like Mayweather? which indicated his plan to jab and move as shown in previous fight tapes which Casimero?s trainer Jhun Agrabio has studied thoroughly. Casimero himself told us that if Ruenroeng resorts to hit and run tactics he would ?chase him, corner him and knock him out.? In an overseas telephone conversation with the New Standard/boxingmirror.com after the presscon, the veteran trainer conceded that Ruenroeng ?is in good condition and we know he is well prepared. He has a good jab, no question and good footwork.? But Agrabio expressed ?big confidence in Casimero who has been training in the US since February and we know how to fight Amnat? who is, by a strange twist, being trained by Filipino manager/promoter and trainer Aljoe Jaro and his younger brother. Aljoe Jaro conceded that Casimero was the power puncher that Ruenroeng is ?a technically better fighter? and expected him to prevail although he said he ?will be happy no matter who wins.? Agrabio said they were not upset over Aljoe Jaro training Ruenroeng insisting that it was merely a job and there was nothing personal about it. Agrabio said Casimero is also in great shape and very well prepared for his chance to win a second world title. He said Casimero ?is comfortable and in a good mood? and weighed 116 pounds yesterday morning and was ?no problem? in making the weight at the official weigh-in on Friday.
