MAYWEATHER AND PACQUIAO MAKE WEIGHT FOR ?FIGHT OF THE CENTURY? By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sat, 02 May 2015 LAS VEGAS ? ?The Money Time? vs. ?Team Pacquiao?, Chants of ?Manny, Manny? versus ?Money, Money?, ?TBE? hats and jackets vs. ?Pinoy Pride? gear. Eleven thousand five hundred fans trooped the center of the sporting world, the MGM Grand Garden Arena, for the weigh-in ceremonies for what is this generation?s ?Fight of the Century?. Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao both made the official weight limit of their welterweight (147 pounds) unification match scheduled tomorrow in a squared ring across the stage where both fighters stood in the scales. Mayweather Jr. was 146 pounds while Pacquiao was 145 pounds. The electric atmosphere in the arena matched the hype of what is projected to be as the highest earning boxing event in history. With estimated revenue of around 400 million dollars from ticket, Pay-Per-View sales, marketing and sponsorship money, tomorrow?s fight will match the money that the NFL?s Super Bowl generates. Fans in this afternoon?s weigh-in paid at least $10 and more just to get in to the usually ?free-to-the-public? event. The party-like gathering was emceed by American rap star and music producer, Doug E. Fresh whose hip hop style entertained the crowd. ?My frame of mind is just to be smart. I dedicate myself to the sport of boxing and I?m ready,? declared the unbeaten Mayweather, who is 47-0 in the ring. Mayweather was again a picture of calmness, for the final public event before his fight with Pacquiao. ?This is for the fans. Tomorrow, the fans deserve a good fight. Whether you are a fan of Floyd Mayweather or you are a fan of Manny Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs), you deserve to have a good fight tomorrow,? stated Pacquiao who was smiling since he entered the arena and the stage. ?I am ready to fight,? Mayweather Jr. declared. Pacquiao thanked him when they posed for the final ?Face-off?. The ring is waiting not too far from where they stand. The fans in the arena cannot hold their excitement. The world cannot wait. ?The Fight of the Century? is one day away. Here are the rest of the weights for the combatants in the undercard for Saturday night?s card.
