DE LA HOYA CLAIMS CHOICE OF KENNY BAYLESS AS REFEREE FAVORS MAYWEATHER By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 22 Apr 2015 Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya believes that the appointment of referee Kenny Bayless as the third man in the ring in the mega-buck showdown against Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 2, favors Mayweather. Veteran Bayless has refereed five of Mayweather's previous fights and De La Hoya believes, as we have said before, that the tendency of Bayless to step in and halt the action and break up fighters will stop Pacquiao from building any momentum against the American Rohan Banerjee writing for the Daily Mail Online says that Oscar De La Hoya, one of Mayweather?s past opponents who lost a split decision in a fight refereed by Bayless believes that the choice of Bayless will serve as a clear advantage for Mayweather over Pacquiao. De La Hoya who was quoted by Yahoo Sports said ?I think it favors Mayweather, absolutely. There is no secret about that. That?s one point for Mayweather right there.? He said ?if you notice every fight Mayweather has had with Kenny Bayless as referee, the ref should break them up if both hands are tied up and they are not throwing punches. Referring to the Mayweather?s rematch against Marcos Maidana, De La Hoya remarked that ?when they got in close Bayless would break them up. One hand would be free from the clinch but he still broke them up . Its an advantage for Mayweather.? We ourselves referred to Mayweather?s first fight with Maidana where referee Tony Weeks gave both fighters freedom to exchange on the inside which made for a more exciting fight and gave Maidana a chance to get at Mayweather although Pacquiao?s forst trainer American Rick Staheli said Weeks allowed Maidana to get away with what he called some MMA moves.
