NBA -- Pacers bolster playoffs push with Knicks rout, 102-86

NEW YORK -- Fighting for a playoffs spot, the Indiana Pacers cruised past the New York Knicks, 102-86, on Wednesday night at the Madison Square Garden.
The victory improved the Pacers' record to 35-43, tying them in 9th place with the Miami Heat, who totes a similar card. The 36-42 Brooklyn Nets are precariously hanging on the 8th and last playoffs spot in the Eastern Conference with four games left in the regular season.
The Knicks got off to another bad start scoring only 14 points in the first quarter. In four of their last seven games, the Knicks have scored less than 17 points in the opening period.
Indiana took control of the game with a 54-38 halftime lead.
The Knicks never caught their seemed to catch their stride and was held to just 34.5 percent from the field. The Pacers also badly out-rebounded the Knicks, 54-34.
George Hill led all scorers with 20 points. The Pacers point guard also logged 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Center Roy Hibbert finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, his 15th double-double of the season.
"I was just trying to be aggressive," Hibbert said.
Paul George, who is on a 10 to 15-minute restriction after his return from injury, played 15 minutes and contributed 10 points and 2 steals.
Langston Galloway led the Knicks with 19 points. Andrea Bargnani had 15 while Jason Smith, Quincy Acy and Tim Hardaway Jr contributed 12 points apiece.
