NBA -- Warriors tame Pelicans 112 - 96

OAKLAND - The Oracle Arena hosted a possible first-round match up on Friday night when the New Orleans Pelicans were in town actively in the hunt for the 8th and final playoffs spot in the Western Conference.
After hearing the news that OKC Thunder All-Star Kevin Durant has been ruled out indefinitely, New Orleans, who is a game behind the Thunder entering the contest, looked to make a strong push.
But the Pelicans had some injury issues of their own as All-Star Anthony Davis did not suit up after spraining his left ankle during a shoot around in Phoenix.
The Golden State Warriors showed the depth of the bench, dropping 54 points and picked up the slack on a night when Stephen Curry shot just 4-of-17 form the field for 16 points with 11 assists.
Harrison Barnes led the Warriors with 22 points. He stepped up in the absence of Klay Thompson, who is sidelined for the next 7 to 10 days with sprained ankle.
"I just think with Klay out, he's sort of taken it upon himself to attack."
Marreese Speights added 13 points off the bench, while the rejuvenated Leandro Barbosa scored 12 for Golden State. The Warriors improved to 55-13, for NBA's best record.
Monte Williams said after the game... "We just got overwhelmed with their pressure. They had us on our heels in transition. They drove the ball every single time, and off a back-to-back, our guys got tired."
Norris Cole led the Pelicans with 16 points. Alexis Ajinca added 15 points 8 boards.
The deflated New Orleans is heading south to face the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, while the Golden State Warriors will host The Utah Jazz tomorrow night. (RP)
