NBA -- Sans Durant, Westbrook, OKC tops Lakers
By Mohan Labra Ramchandani PhilBoxing.com Mon, 02 Mar 2015

LOS ANGELES -- Even without Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, the Oklahoma City Thunder were good enough to beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 108-101, on Sunday at the Staples Center.
Durant the reigning MVP sat due to an ailing foot while Westbrook missed action following facial surgery. Both will be evaluated next week to determine a timetable for their return.
Without the two stars, D.J. Augustin and Serge Ibaka took over the scoring scores for OKC with 18 points apiece. Enes Kanter had 16 points and 15 rebounds while Jeremy Lamb added 14. Nick Collison pitched in 12 markers.
The Thunder shot only 41.2 percent from the field but their offense got a huge lift from beyond the 3-point arc where they sank 11 of 32 attempts. OKC won the rebounds battle, 55-49 but had six fewer assists at 21.
The huge road win allowed the 33-27 Thunder to stay at eighth place in the Western Conference, just a full game ahead of the surging New Orleans Pelicans, who have won four in a row and were playing the Denver Nuggets as of press time.
The loss ended the Lakers' three-game winning streak.
Jeremy Lin led L.A. with 20 points and eight assists while Jordan Hill had 14 points and 12 boards. Jordan Clarkson and Wayne Ellington added 12 apiece for the Lakers, who dropped to 16-42 for the season.
