NBA -- Pacers take Down Curry-less Warriors, 104-98 By Adeline Deladisma PhilBoxing.com Tue, 24 Feb 2015 INDIANAPOLIS -- It seems the Golden State Warriors have caught a bit of the big-name injury bug that has plagued NBA teams all season. League MVP candidate Stephen Curry sat out his first game of the season with a sore right ankle, which saw his Golden State Warriors fall to the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis Sunday night. Golden State came out of the gates quickly and scored 38 points in the first half. They led by as many as 12 in that quarter but the Pacers would grind back into the game in the second quarter and led at the half, 58-57. The Pacers led for almost the entire fourth quarter, but the Warriors remained within striking distance as the minutes wound down. A big three pointer by CJ Miles with 26.5 left to play sealed the win for the home team. Rodney Stuckey had an impressive game for the Pacers off the bench. The forward had 30 points and 5 assists on 11 for 17 shooting. He played and stayed in the game despite spraining his ankle against Philiadelphia last Friday. "He's as tough as they come," said Indiana head coach Frank Vogel. Led by Stuckey, the Pacer bench had a strong effort Sunday night with 61 of the teams points. Vogel is cautiously optimistic about his team after a strong showing in February and having won 7 of their last 10 games. "We got a lot of work to do? we're finally getting guys healthy and in shape but we still have a lot of work to do. It's feeling like we're starting to see what this group can do." Klay Thompson had 39 points to lead the Warriors, 15 of which were netted in the first quarter. But it was clear that they were unaccustomed to playing without their leading scorer and floor leader. Golden State shot 38.2% percent from the field, including 34.6% on their trademark threes. "Steph not only can put the ball in the basket himself but also makes the game easier for a lot of people. Not having him probably hurt our rhythm a little bit not to mention we haven't even had a practice without him because he's played every game," said Warriors forward David Lee. Both teams return to action Tuesday night when the Pacers play the Thunder in Oklahoma City and the Warriors travel to Washington, DC to face the Wizards.
