2015 NBA All-Star Saturday -- Curry is 3-point king, LaVine wins dunk title By Adeline Deladisma PhilBoxing.com Sun, 15 Feb 2015 NEW YORK -- Always a fan-favorite during All-Star Weekend, the State Farm All-Star Saturday kept the crowd at Barclays Center in Brooklyn entertained with slams, shootouts, skills and celebrity sightings. The most thrilling competition of the night was certainly the much anticipated Foot Locker Three-Point Contest. The field featured a number of the top behind the arc shooters in the league today, including five who are playing in Sunday's All-Star Game. The final trio included the Splash Brothers, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors, and Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers, who was the Three-Point Champion in 2013. In a spectacular performance, Curry accumulated 27 points, including 7 "money ball" shots worth two points each. This was Curry's fourth appearance and his first win. On winning the Three-Point Contest, Curry said this about his competition: "Crazy, competitive and high-class field of all eight shooters. So I think this is -- just watching the competition, I think this is definitely the best field that's ever been in a three-point shootout." Curry also participated in the Degree Shooting Stars with his father, former Charlotte Hornet Dell Curry. The contest involved a timed shooting drill from four stations. Team Bosh, which included Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh, legend Dominique Wilkins, and WNBA star Swin Cash, posted their third consecutive title with a time of 57.6 seconds in the championship round. The evening also featured the Taco Bell Skill Challenge, a one-on-one tournament-style obstacle course. The final placed Houston Rocket Patrick Beverley against starting East All-Star Kyle Lowry of the Toronto Raptors. Beverley, who was a last minute replacement for John Wall, was the unexpected victor, with two come from behind victories in the first two rounds. Lavin dunks. The marquee event, the Sprite Slam Dunk featured four contestants from the Rising Stars Challenge, Victor Oladipo (Orlando Magic), Mason Plumlee (Brooklyn Nets), Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) and Zach LaVine (Minnesota TImberwolves). LaVine stole the show with a sampling of athletic and creative dunks that drove the Barclays Center crowd crazy. He managed to score two perfect 50s as he left everyone in awe. The All-Star Weekend festivities conclude on Sunday night with the 64th NBA All-Star game at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
