Four Pelicans players registered at least 20 points apiece and New Orleans beat the Memphis Grizzlies, 106-95, on Friday night at the Smoothie King Center. Jrue Holiday had 23 points and eight assists, Tyreke Evans contributed 21 points and 10 rebounds, while rising star Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson added 20 points each. Besides their offensive firepower, the Pelicans' defense showed a lot of bite --- forcing 10 turnovers, blocking 10 shots and coming up with three steals. Eric Gordon made 3 of 4 triples to account for the Pelicans' 10 overall 3s. ?We beat a really good team in the Western Conference \, and it?s really good for us. I like the fact that we won it with our defense. Besides that third quarter, we really played a great defense against a good offensive team,? Pelicans head coach Monty Williams said. ?When guys get together whether a free throw or we blow an execution on defense, watching our guys get together and talk about it, those are growth moments for us,? Williams added. Despite the physical presence of Grizzlies forward, Zach Randolph?s who come from a knee injury, New Orleans Pelicans led from start to finish. It was the second straight loss for the Grizzlies, who got 19 points apiece from Mark Gasol and Mike Conley. Randolph added 11 points and 11 rebounds.
