NBA -- Rockets' fourth quarter burst burn Cavs, 105-93 By Jose Carlos Monroy PhilBoxing.com Fri, 09 Jan 2015 CLEVELAND -- Trailing 74-73 after three quarters, the Houston Rockets outscored the Cleveland Cavaliers 32-19 in the final 12 minutes to secure a 105-93 victory on Wednesday night at the Quicken Loans Arena. The Rockets' win spoiled a season-high performance by Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving, who lit up for 38 points by making 15 of 26 shots. Led by James Harden's 21 points, six Rockets scored in double figures. Dwight Howard had 17 points and 19 rebounds and Josh Smith added 16. Trevor Ariza finished with 13 points while Corey Brewer and Jonas Motiejunas tallied 12 and 10 points, respectively. Newly-minted J.R. Smith, who was acquired from the New York Knicks via trade, entered the game with 5:48 remaining in the first quarter. He logged 18 minutes and went scoreless after going 0-for-5 from the field. "JR is always a tough cover. He?s so athletic, he can dribble, shoot the ball and get to the rim. He just needs to get acclimated to his new team and its offense but I?m sure he can do great here.? Harden said after the game. The Rockets made a living inside the paint with 46 points and out-rebounded the Cavs 50-37. But help is coming soon as the Cavs recently acquired 7-foot-1 Russian center Timofey Mozgov, who is expected to fill the Cavs' need for size following the season-ending injury sustained by veteran center Anderson Varejao. NOTES: Cavs head coach David Blatt was pleased with the Mozgov acquisition, telling media members, ?He is an athletic, very big center. His size does not take away with his speed. He is an excellent pick and cut player. I worked with Timofey for a number of years and I know him well. He?s physical, he?s not afraid, he?s gonna give us a lot.? Talking to reporters prior to tip-off, LeBron that his rehabilitation is doing great and on schedule and that he expects to be ready to play in a week?s time, possibly in one of the five road games in their upcoming West coast trip. ?My back is feeling a little better, my knee is feeling a little better, I think we?re on pace to get back as close to 100 percent as possible.? James said. The Cavs will embark on a five-game road trip out West hoping to stop its skid and end its three game losing streak Friday against the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
