NBA -- Grizzlies nip Lakers on Kobe's late miss

LOS ANGELES -- Kobe Bryant missed a 3 with .06 seconds left to play and the Los Angeles Lakers fell short against the Memphis Grizzlies, 109-106, at Staples Center.
The long range shot was Bryant's eighth miss out of 14 shots on Friday night. He finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as the Lakers shot 53.1 percent from the field (43-of-81), including 6-for-19 from 3-point range.
"I'm surprised that I got that good of a look. It's a tough shot. My main concern was to get it off in time and give myself a chance," Kobe said of his potential game-tying shot.
The struggling Lakers, who only had 10 wins in 33 starts, hung around with the powerhouse Grizzlies by shooting and ball well early to grab a 52-47 advantage at the halftime break. But Memphis went on a 33-25 third quarter run to seize the momentum.
Mike Conley registered 19 points and nine assists for the Grizzlies. When the Lakers mounted a fierce rally that cut the Grizzlie's lead to one, Conley responded with a huge 3 to push Memphis ahead, 100-96, with just 3:55 to go in regulation.
Marc Gasol had 18 points and 10 rebounds while Courtney Lee added 14.
Beno Udrih had 16 and Tayshaun Prince added 12 as Memphis improved to 24-8 and third place in the Western Conference.
