NBA - Dallas' Ellis, Chandler iffy against Wiz
By Franco Ching Alsay PhilBoxing.com Wed, 31 Dec 2014

HOUSTON -- When the Dallas Mavericks aim to protect their American Airlines Center home court early today, they could have their hands full against the visiting Washington Wizards.
That's because the Mavericks could miss two starters -- Tyson Chandler and Monta Ellis -- by tip-off.
"Monta seems to be doing Ok. I know he said he's not going to miss any games, I tend to take his word on that at this time. We'll see where he is in the (Tuesday) morning," Mavs head coach told the Dallas Morning News after yesterday's team practice.
Since joining the Mavericks in 2013, Elis has suited up for 114 straight regular season games and seven playoffs appearances.
The 7-foot Chandler is still ailing from back spasms while the speedy Ellis sustained a sprained ankle in Dallas' 112-107 trouncing of the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night.
"Tyson seems to be doing better. We'll hopefully have an update in the (Tuesday) morning and if not, we'll have one when we release his status for (game day)," Carlisle also told the Dallas Morning News.
The Mavericks are currently in fifth place in the Western Conference with a sturdy 22-10 won-lost record, but they could have their hands full without Chandler's defensive punch and Ellis' offensive firepower.
The 22-8 Wizards are on the heels of an impressive 104-103 triumph over the Rockets in Houston on Monday night.
