NBA -- Heat burn Jazz behind Wade's season-high 29

PhilBoxing.com

MIAMI- On a night when he was supposed to be ill due a bug that has played the team lately, Dwyane Wade scored a season-high 29 points and dished out seven assists to help the Miami Heat eke out a 100-95 victory over the Utah Jazz at the EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City.

"You don't ever want to be sick at all, but I do know when you have an injury or if you're sick, it makes you focus a bit better," Wade told the Associated Press after the game.

Wade assisted in eight of Miami's first 12 points of the ballgame as Utah had trouble containing the Heat's pick-and-roll offense in the first half where Miami led by as many as 15 points.

Two days after claiming a victory over the San Antonio Spurs, the Jazz shot just 44.7 percent from the field compared to Miami's 36 for 72 fare, a high 50 percent clip.

Utah was led by Enes Kanter with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Gordon Hayward added 18 points but he struggled from beyond the arc on 2-7 shooting.

Second-year center Rudy Gobert started the second half in place of Derrick Favors, who injured his ankle in the first quarter . Gobert provided that defensive spark for the Jazz, he had a career-high 5 blocks and 11 rebounds for the Jazz. After falling behind by as many as 17 points in the game, the Jazz roared back and cut the deficit to just a solitary point, 79-80, following an Alec Burks free throw with 10:40 left in the game.

But just like how he started the game, Wade checked back in and seized control. He either assisted or scored 13 of Miami's last 20 points in the final quarter including 3 crucial free throws with under 10 seconds remaining to secure the win.

Chris Bosh added 22 points and 9 rebounds and Loul Deng chipped in 14 points for the Heat, who have finally staked their first road victory against the Jazz since December 8, 2010.

Miami (11-12) finished their 5-game road trip with a 2-3 record and will now head home to host Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls Sunday evening at the American Airlines Arena.
