NBA -- Undermanned Spurs stretch Knicks' losing streak to 10 By Adeline Deladisma PhilBoxing.com Fri, 12 Dec 2014 SAN ANTONIO -- Coming off a loss to the Utah Jazz on the first end of a back-to-back, the San Antonio Spurs returned home on Wednesday night and beat the struggling New York Knicks, 109-95, at the AT&T Center. The Spurs rested Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili and played without injured starters Tony Parker (hamstring) and Kawhi Leonard (hand). Still, the Spurs found a way to win without their Big Four. "I thought they did a fine job, I haven't been this pleased in a while. A lot of guys who haven't played much played a fundamental game and executed well," head coach Gregg Popovich said after seven of his players scored in double figures. Marco Belinelli led the charge with 22. Danny Green had 13 and Boris Diaw finished with 12. Jeff Aynes tallied 11 while Matt Bonner, Aron Baynes and Austin Daye each had 10. The Spurs led 56-52 at the half and broke the game open with a 38 point third quarter during which they led by as many as 25 points. "They know who they are. They have an identity and it showed in that third quarter," Knicks head coach Derek Fisher told reporters. The defeat was the Knicks' 10th straight and 20th for the season. The Knicks have struggled to establish such an identity this season and have faced rumors of team discord in the last week. Carmelo Anthony addressed the issue prior to the game and denied any bad blood between himself and Tim Hardaway Jr. Anthony was out with a sore knee on Wednesday and Hardaway led the team in his absence with 23 points, including 4 triples. The Spurs will face the Lakers at home on Friday as Kobe Bryant continues his quest to pass Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring charts. The Knicks also return to action on Friday when they play the Celtics in Boston. (AD) Photo: Without their Big Four, Corey Joseph (L) and the Spurs still handled the New York Knicks, 109-95.
