NBA -- Teague's 28 lifts Hawks over Pistons
By Ryan Medida PhilBoxing.com Sun, 23 Nov 2014
SAN FRANCISCO -- The Atlanta Hawks snapped their 2-game losing streak with a convincing 99-89 win over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night at the Philips Arena.
Point guard Jeff Teague led the way with 28 points and six assists. He made 9-of-15 field goals, including 2-of-3 from three-point range. Teague also sank all eight of his free throws.
As good as he was offensively, Teague got high praises on offense from his coach, Mike Budenholzer, who told NBA.com "Jeff Teague was very good. A lot of people talk about his points and his offense but I thought his defense was very good on the ball."
Paul Millsap contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds for Atlanta and center Al Horford had 14. Kyle Korver added 12 for the Hawks, who made 38 of 80 field goals and 5 of 24 from above the 3-point arc.
The Pistons, meanwhile, made only 31 of 83 shots and missed 17 of 21 triples. Their poor shooting led to the team's fourth straight defeat. Detroit fell to 3-10 in the overall standings.
Josh Smith, a former Atlanta Hawk, had a productive homecoming with 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists. But it wasn't enough as the Pistons trailed by as many as 19 points in the third quarter.
The Hawks improved to 6-5 for the season. (RM)
