NBA -- Nuggets rough up Pacers in Indy, 108-87 By Adeline Deladisma PhilBoxing.com Sun, 16 Nov 2014 INDIANAPOLIS -- The Denver Nuggets stopped by the Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Friday night and dominated the host Indiana Pacers, 108-97, in front of a stunned partisan crowd of 16,286. Both are struggling early this season and only have four wins between them. The Pacers were returning home from a big win over the Heat in Miami while the Nuggets were coming off a stinging 130-113 loss to the Blazers and responded with an energetic effort. Indiana jumped to a 15-8 lead in the first quarter, but the Nuggets took control in the second quarter and seized a 64-46 advantage by halftime. Denver never looked back from there. ?The entire group was unselfish, focused. Coming off one of our worst losses we bounced back and had one of our best wins.? said Nuggets guard Arron Afflalo, who led his team with 17 points. Seven Nuggets scored in double digits and guard Ty Lawson finished with a double-double (11 points, 10 assists). The Nuggets had the edge in most of the stats: shooting percentage (49.4 to 40.5%), rebounds (46 to 42), assists (20 to 17), and turnovers (8 to 13), though not by large margins. Still, the Nuggets pounded the Pacers, leading by as many as 33 points in the third quarter. The Pacers have been decimated by injury and were unable to match the energy of the Nuggets. ?They played with desperation and had us back on our heels all night,? said Pacers coach Frank Vogel. ?We?re not good enough or experienced enough not to play harder than our opponent.? The Pacers face another challenge when they take on the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Saturday night. The Nuggets remain on the road and will play the New York Knicks on Sunday.
